Extended Family was started in November 2003 in Cherokee County, Alabama by a woman whose husband went to prison. She first grieved over her loss, but gradually learned how to run the household and raise her children while her spouse was away. She wanted to meet other people who were in similar situations and share with them her own experience, while learning about the adjustments they had to make as well.

Extended Family is a non-profit organization that requires nothing of its members. Our desire is to help you through this difficult time by providing emotional support. The organization will require no fees or meeting attendance, we simply want to be here when you need us.
